BIO

A native of the New York Metropolitan area, Jim has long been associated with the new, the fresh, the original, and the unique sounds defined by this new age in music.

His performance experiences, range from the light hearted 1910 Fruitgum Company, to the mistress of soul Aretha Franklin,

to the cutting edge of new age jazz with Quiet Fire, to the historic sounds of Guy Lombardo and Boots Randolph

all adding to his experiences as a composer, arranger, and performer.

Receiving his MM in 1984, Jim pursued a teaching career having received numerous awards in the teaching profession,

among which were Bright Ideas 1984, and Teacher of the Year in 1987.

Having a natural affinity for film music from the 30’s and 40’s,  Jim is experimenting with the melding of sound

styles and ideas from past and present along with the free experimentation he experienced as a young performer.

Having recently earned his Master’s in Film Composition from UNC School of the Arts 2015, he is actively seeking

new theatres for his musical uniqueness.
